What is source message in SAP (BC-XI - Exchange Infrastructure)?

SAP Term: source message

  • Component: BC-XI

  • Component Name: Exchange Infrastructure

  • Description: Message that is to be mapped to one or more target messages by using a mapping program. A synchronous source interface sends a request message, receives a response message, and optionally a fault message as well. 'Source' and 'target' always refer to a source and target of the mapping, and reference a field, structure, message, or interface.

  • Key Concepts:
A source message is a message sent from a sender system to a receiver system in SAP Exchange Infrastructure (XI). It is the first step in the exchange of data between two systems. The source message contains the data that needs to be exchanged and is sent to the receiver system.

    How to use it:
In order to send a source message, the sender system must first create an outbound interface. This interface defines the data that needs to be exchanged and how it should be formatted. Once the interface is created, the sender system can then send the source message to the receiver system.

    Tips & Tricks:
When creating an outbound interface, it is important to ensure that all of the necessary data is included in the source message. This will ensure that all of the data is received by the receiver system correctly. Additionally, it is important to ensure that all of the data is formatted correctly so that it can be processed by the receiver system.
