Message text: Component &1 with backflush indicator cannot be reassigned
The backflush indicator is set for component &V1& that is to be
reassigned. However, the old operation &V2& or new operation &V3& is
already (partially) confirmed. This may lead to incorrect withdrawal
quantities for these components after reassignment.
Example:
The component is assigned to an operation that is finally confirmed.
The component should therefore be withdrawn by 100%. If the component
is now reassigned to an unconfirmed operation, it will be withdrawn
again when this operation is confirmed. The withdrawal quantity is
therefore greater than the requirements quantity.
This component is not reassigned.
Reduce the requirements quantity for this component in the old
operation to the quantity that has already been withdrawn and add the
component with the open quantitiy to the new operation.
Or, before reassignment, remove the backflush indicator for this
component and then manually post the goods movements that are still
open for this component.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

The SAP error message C2241 indicates that there is an issue with the reassignment of a component that has the backflush indicator set. This typically occurs in the context of production orders or material requirements planning (MRP) when trying to change the assignment of a component that is configured to be backflushed.
Cause:
The error arises due to the following reasons:
- Backflush Indicator: The component in question has the backflush indicator activated, which means that the system automatically deducts the component from inventory when the production order is confirmed. This setting restricts changes to the component assignment.
- Production Order Status: The production order may be in a status that does not allow changes to component assignments (e.g., if the order is already confirmed or completed).
- Component Type: The component may be of a type that does not allow reassignment when backflushing is enabled.
Solution:
To resolve the error, consider the following steps:
- Check Component Settings: Review the component's settings in the material master to determine if the backflush indicator is necessary. If it is not required, you can deactivate it.
- Change Order Status: If the production order is in a status that prevents changes, you may need to set the order to a status that allows modifications (e.g., "Created" or "Released"). This may involve reversing confirmations or other actions.
- Reassign Components: If the backflush indicator must remain active, consider whether you can achieve your goal through other means, such as creating a new production order or adjusting the bill of materials (BOM) instead of reassigning components.
- Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or consult with your SAP support team for specific guidelines related to your version of SAP and the configuration of your production processes.
Related Information:
If the problem persists after trying the above solutions, it may be beneficial to engage with your SAP support team or a consultant who specializes in SAP production planning and control.

SAP messages fall into 3 different categories: Error messages
(message type = E), Warnings (W) or Informational (I) messages.
An error message will prevent you from continuing your work - it is a hard stop and you need to fix the error before you can proceed. A warning message will stop your work, however, you can then bypass the warning by pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. That said, it is still good practice to investigate the cause of the warning message and address it. An information message will not stop your work and is truly just for informational purposes.
