  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message SO114 - Do not choose more than one document class as the default ?

The SAP error message SO114, which states "Do not choose more than one document class as the default," typically occurs in the context of configuring document management settings in SAP. This error indicates that there is an attempt to set more than one document class as the default, which is not allowed.

    Cause:

The primary cause of this error is that in the configuration settings for document classes, more than one document class has been marked as the default. In SAP, only one document class can be designated as the default for a particular application or process. This is to ensure that the system knows which document class to use when creating new documents.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you need to check the configuration settings for document classes and ensure that only one document class is set as the default. Here are the steps to do this:

    1. Access the Document Class Configuration:

      • Go to the transaction code OAC0 (or the relevant transaction for your SAP version) to access the document class configuration.
    2. Review Document Classes:

      • Look at the list of document classes that have been defined. Identify which ones are currently set as default.
    3. Set Only One Default:

      • Ensure that only one document class is marked as the default. If you find multiple document classes marked as default, you will need to uncheck the default setting for all but one of them.
    4. Save Changes:

      • After making the necessary adjustments, save your changes.
    5. Test the Configuration:

      • After making the changes, try to perform the action that previously triggered the error to ensure that it has been resolved.

    Related Information:

    • Document Classes: Document classes in SAP are used to categorize different types of documents within the system. Each document class can have its own settings and attributes.
    • Default Document Class: The default document class is used by the system when creating new documents, and it determines the behavior and properties of those documents.
    • SAP Notes and Documentation: If you continue to experience issues or need more detailed guidance, consider checking SAP Notes or the official SAP Help documentation for your specific version of SAP.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the SO114 error and ensure that your document management configuration is set up correctly.
