Message text: Restriction for more than eight signatures per strategy (see long text)
You want to use signature strategies to which more than eight individual
signatures were assigned. For technical reasons, manual maintenance of
the signature sequence and the release statuses is not possible.
The system allows the assignment of more than eight individual
signatures per signature strategy. However, constraints relating to the
display and maintenance of the signature sequence and release statuses
must be taken into account (see below).
For signatures strategies with more than eight individual signatures,
the system creates the corresponding database entries for the signature
sequence of the individual signatures and the release status.
The following constraints apply for the signature sequence created by
the system:
The sequence of the individual signatures is laid down according to the
entries made in the table in the 'Assign Individual Signatures' view:
The second individual signature is set following the successful signing
of the first individual signature. If the second individual signature is
completed successfully, the third individual signature follows, and so
on.
All individual signatures that are assigned to the signature strategy
must be completed in the sequence specified. Skipping individual
signatures in this fixed sequence is not possible.
A display of the signature sequence created by the system is not
planned.
The following constraints apply for the release status created by the
system:
All individual signatures must be signed successfully before the
signature process can be completed successfully. Then, a release status
is created by the system, which handles all individual signatures.
Additional release statuses are not possible.
A display of the release status created by the system is not planned.
First, enter the required number of additional individual signatures per
signature strategy.
Then call the function for maintaining the signature sequence. The
system creates the required data records automatically and also
generates the corresponding release status. Maintaining a release status
separately is therefore not necessary.
Save your entries.
If you then change the number of individual signatures for your
signature strategy, you must then call the function for maintaining the
signature sequence again.
For existing signature strategies with fewer than eight entries, you
should avoid increasing the number of individual signatures. You should
therefore create a new signature strategy.
If you do want to increase the number of individual signatures, however,
this has an effect on any release statuses that you already maintained
and the signature sequence you specified:
Existing data records are deleted and replaced by the data records
created by the system.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

SAP messages fall into 3 different categories: Error messages
(message type = E), Warnings (W) or Informational (I) messages.
An error message will prevent you from continuing your work - it is a hard stop and you need to fix the error before you can proceed. A warning message will stop your work, however, you can then bypass the warning by pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. That said, it is still good practice to investigate the cause of the warning message and address it. An information message will not stop your work and is truly just for informational purposes.
