What causes this issue?

You have maintained data for this material differently from the
reference data. This occurs if:
The material is a generic material, and its variants are maintained
differently from the generic material (differences at client level).
Plant data is maintained differently from the reference plant, or if a
reference plant for the variant is maintained differently from the
reference plant for the generic material (differences at plant level).
