The SAP error message CJ010 ("Project & already exists") typically occurs when you attempt to create a new project in the Project System (PS) module, but a project with the same project ID already exists in the system. This can happen due to various reasons, such as duplicate entries or incorrect project ID input.
Cause:
- Duplicate Project ID: The project ID you are trying to create already exists in the system.
- Incorrect Input: You may have mistakenly entered a project ID that is already in use.
- System Configuration: There may be settings in the system that prevent the creation of projects with certain IDs.
Solution:
Check Existing Projects: Before creating a new project, check the existing projects to see if the project ID you want to use is already taken. You can do this by using transaction codes like CJ03 (Display Project) or CJ20N (Project Builder).
Use a Different Project ID: If the project ID is already in use, consider using a different, unique project ID for your new project.
Review Project Status: If the existing project is not active or is in a status that allows for changes, you may want to review its status and determine if it can be modified instead of creating a new one.
Consult with Your SAP Administrator: If you believe the project ID should not exist or if you need to delete or archive an old project, consult with your SAP administrator or the relevant team in your organization.
Check for Customizations: If your organization has customizations in the SAP system, check if there are any specific rules or validations that might be causing this error.

SAP messages fall into 3 different categories: Error messages
(message type = E), Warnings (W) or Informational (I) messages.
An error message will prevent you from continuing your work - it is a hard stop and you need to fix the error before you can proceed. A warning message will stop your work, however, you can then bypass the warning by pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. That said, it is still good practice to investigate the cause of the warning message and address it. An information message will not stop your work and is truly just for informational purposes.
